Disaster Response- Post Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita
FACS responded for multiple clients in Mississippi and Louisiana after the devastating hurricanes hit in the Gulf States in the fall of 2005. The response action included initial site assessments, remediation cost estimates, insurance claim review, and emergency remediation project designs and project management for multiple hospitality, gaming and commercial retail locations.
Services mainly focused on water intrusion and mold but also included asbestos, lead and other environmental health concerns associated with major building demolition and reconstruction.
FACS environmental health services involved the coordination of hundreds of employee’s, multiple field support offices, mobile laboratories and management support services. The projects were extremely complex and required extensive coordination and yet all projects were completed on time and on budget.
FACS has the ability to mobilize to heavily impacted areas and to be self sufficient while the local utilities and infrastructure is restored. When quick response was required to assess site conditions, FACS was able to work with the local authorities and first responders to get accurate and detailed information assembled quickly.
Accurate sampling plans and detailed project management helped to reduce long term business interruption and allowed the spaces to be returned to the General Contractors for reconstruction services.
